About Mark Elster

Hello.

My name is Mark Elster, an award-winning Interactive Creative Director. I have a proven track record of translating business goals into innovative designs for brand identities and bringing them to fruition on the web, in print collateral and for corporate presentations.

With a passion for typography, color, and imagery, my creative expertise and thorough knowledge of CSS and web standards enable a smooth transition between design and implementation. I am focused on designing a better user experience for community-driven websites using the “latest and greatest” Open Source Content Management Platform. ;)

My leadership experience has directed fast-paced teams in strategic planning, creative development and technical implementation, often bridging the gap between designers and engineers. I can produce results in high-pressure situations.

I have worked on projects for 3Com, BeVocal, Brightmail, C&H Sugar, Contivo, E.piphany, Fujitsu, Macromedia, Nuance, Palm Computing, Reconnex, Sun Microsystems, Symantec, and Verisign to name a few.

Oh, and I am available for hire.

I began my career in 1983 as an Art Director for a national music publication in New York. After discovering a love of editorial design and typography, I moved on to CMP Publications. There, I created scores of informational graphics for several trade publications. In 1986, I spearheaded the adoption of computer tools for their publications' graphics. After CMP, I began working for Garvan Advertising.

In 1994, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to begin my work in multi-media. I became Creative Director at Dolphin MultiMedia in Palo Alto, creating and developing identity systems, print collateral, websites, motion graphics, and interactive corporate presentations for such clients as Macromedia, Verisign, 3Com, Palm, Fujitsu, and Contivo.

After Dolphin, I founded Eye580, an interactive agency creating and developing engaging websites, rich-media advertising, and branding programs.

Currently, I am Chief Creative Officer at Dagaz Solutions, a full-service strategic branding and marketing agency based in the San Francisco East Bay Area.

"Mark did a beautiful job on my logo and website design. He listened well and worked with me to turn my very rough ideas of imagery and color into an elegant and coherent identity. The whole look delights me. He's also very pleasant to deal with and meets his time commitments."
